The EGRESS standard
The Egress standard concerns emergency exits in the event of a fire. Whether it is for a new construction or a renovation, every bedroom must have at least one window that opens directly to the outside, no matter where it is located (basement, upstairs, etc.). The standard does not apply if there are sprinklers or if the room has a door that opens directly to the outside.
